Dear L.I've posted her photos her as i thought it's be easy for you to view as well as to share the link with fellow collectors/friends to get their opinions on her... She came without a fringe and parting, I corrected that by giving her bangs and using the hair I had cut off to give her fringe, rerooted it and thatched her a parting.Synthetic mohair feels a little more organic compared to the regular nylon/saran hair used on our regular released dolls. If I did not remember wrgly, I've ever washed her hair with no problem. to groom her hair, I've used a wider tooth comb as her hair is realllllllllllllly thick! Her hair is very secure despite the weird rooting.Her body like most factory gals do not match lol... she's got similar coloured arms, legs and pelvis, but the torso is a little darker. Her finger nails have nail polish on them though it's a little rubbed. (she came like that) I can touch it up for you if you like.her yellow pull ring has little melt marks , I will try to fix that up for you if you like.She came with eyes that did not shut fully when the ring is pulled and she appeared over boggled, thus I adjusted her eye mechanism a little and gave her double pull strings to enable her to have sleepy eyes. if you like I can remove the sleepy eye function.You will be able to see the markings on her scalp by just lifting her hair apart... rather interesting to me and the obviously thick hair plugs will definately stand out to you. Compare her to any standard release and you will definately see ALOT of difference. I've over 8 factory dolls and non of them has the characteristics that she has. My other 8 or so factory gals came with a mix-matches of face plates, bodies & scalps from reg. released dolls. (except my synthetic mohair gals. however their scalps are of smaller plugs and appears to be machine rooted NOT by hand) Other than that her being a FBL 'translucent' & matte with factory make up is kinda unique just based on that.My label on her being a factory prototype might have sparked some queries from others too. I will disclaim that I labelled her that, based on MY observations and how and why she appears very different from the others. I dare say that she is one if not 2 of a kind (since i know she had a twin) *to everyone and anyone reading this besides L, I look forward to hearing from you as I'd luv to learn more about her should she leave or stay on with me, pls feel free to leave our comments! Scalp- her scalp does not sit 100% well, but it won't fall out. I can glue it down with white glue if you like. I won't encourage that though as it does not affect her appearance in anyway and feel that due to her bk ground, it would be nice to keep her close to how she left the factory. (of course the choice is yrs :))

Body-as mentioned her body had no glue on when she arrived. It did not affect her ability to stand etc... i have however applied a little glue on her body when I first recieved her.

I've never in my wildest dreams thought I'd let my most kenner baby go after I got her.
She was my dream for a very long time, a wispy bang Brunette. We've kinda failed to bond despite all her perfections - all my other kenners were either just heads... missing a leg...overly yellowed or something!

Bethlyn as I've named her came to me from another Blythe lover in the US. I've had her since Dec 07 but hardly spent any time with her.

About her
+Hair+ soft! & no frizz! - what sorta kenner is she!!!!???, I think her hair had a slight trim, but not by me.

+Eyes+ looks good to me! a slightly cloudy green chip but not noticable

+Pull mech.+ NOT working. I've NEVER OPENED her up to check why. I just change the colours of her eyes by rolling them with my fingers.

+Face+ Appears to have little tiny spots of aging - she is afterall 39 years old. I've tried to capture them in the pixs I've taken.

+Body+ sexy! okie seriously.... she has an extra butt crack as shown in the photos. Otherwise, body is clean and working

+"Skin"+ pinky

In conclusion, I think she is in rather wonderful condition. She's NOT from a smoking home. I've not opened her up nor restored her as I try to keep my Kenners in the condition they come in except for my severely yellowed Blonde.

Reason of sale : I've a new home to furnish and I've not spent any time with her!!! :( I really feel bad about that.

Price: erm.. hmmmsss.... tough one... I hope am being fair to all asking not for a million dollars but USD$1250. I believe the approx recorded mail worldwide is USD$35 at most. I will quote the exact postage when her destination has been decided.

Pls... give her a good home and more love than me!

Frigginfuchsia has this dress up as a little contribution to Help Japan. 100% of the proceeds will go towards the Singapore Red Cross which will channel the donations to aid relief efforts in Japan.

Why I'd like to help:
Most the fabrics used in the little doll clothes made by Frigginfuchsia are from Japan. Now, having to watch one of my favourite country which has been the source of my many inspirations undergo such a disaster is just heart-wretching!
I had sewed this piece sometime ago with one of my favorite Japanese fabric a while back and making this extra piece for myself to keep. ( I rarely have a copy of my own creations.)

This Rosebud dress is a combination of crochet lace, lovely japanese fabric and pearly beads as buttons.
Lots of effort was taken in adding in lace details in the bodice, puff sleeves and edges of the skirt.

Kindi Dresses

It's been a few weeks of TRYING to finish these dresses! It wasn't getting the inspiration to sew of playing with the details but rather getting the time to finish them due to positive issues such as looking for a new home, a couple of incoming styling jobs(I'm a commercial food stylist) & a wonderful vacation I just had.

Anyway, here they are. Thank you to those who had been asking me about them. Am very grateful for your patience :)

A little background now. It had been a while since I had garnered the inspiration to sew or to fabric shop. All it took was for me to get lost in thoughts and Chinatown and fall in love with this fabric which in turn triggered my urge to create these 3 dresses. The prints are of the old skool illustration style... too adorable for me to pen dwn in words :)

There are 3 variations of this dress set.

Am terrible because:

1. She proberly can't hear now because she was the first SBL I tried taking apart and totally injured her.

2. Her lips were terribly carved as I did not have the proper tools (I was based overseas and was desperate to custom a doll, with or without the right tools)

3. I never set her fringe properly

4. Her makeup looks terrible!!!!

5. I NEVER NAMED HER!!!

I'm trying to make amends. This is also my break month thus I've been going through my older gals, touching them up and giving them make-overs! Hopefully I've learnt a little some thing from Project runway and watching numerous episodes of Tim Gunn's guide to style!

Appi-Moon

She’s yellow as the moon and face round as an apple. She’s taught me to see past her bald spots.... broken knee and bitten off foot. I did not dare ask how it happened in fear of hurting her 1972 ole heart.

I patiently cleaned her the best I knew how then, and gave her a partial saran reroot that was a shade darker than her original kenner frizz, it was really hard to find the exact shade back then! and I was desperate to cover her bald patches. She also lost her cliff chin from my lack of knowledge in sanding dolls some 8 years ago, but still continued to smile.

I gave her brighter pink lips to ‘brighten’ her up only to realise it made her look tranney-ish when she yellowed again in later years. But she still continued to smile the best way she knew how.

As all Toy stories are told, they were played with, then stored away. Often forgotten as new toys came in... am guilty of that with her.

2 weeks ago, a close dolly friend of mine brought me her Blonde Kenner for a touch up and that made me take Appi-Moon out. Sadly, she had yellowed AGAIN.
Appi should really stop trying to turn chinese like me... hmmmss....

Anyway, for 1 whole week... I tried the simplest to the most completed methods of de-yellowing treatments on her... from using pearl drops... to using the good old novus polisher on her.
But alas.... she was in her terminal stage. :(

With other kenner gals... all yellow in sorrow (after 1.5 weeks of toothpaste n novus treatment)

Then it occured to me... why not give her a surface/superficial facelift.... yes kenner lovers out there.. you may hate me for what I’ve done to her... but like a comment I read from a restorer mentioned “just follow your heart in how U feel your doll should look.. ignore the negativity of the community” with that, I finally decided to match her to her very pinky original plastic like the Aiai-chan’s.... the only thing I decided to take the risk with was to give her pale lips ... like the Kenner prototype I lusted for online.

I’ve also give her back her cliff chin and rerooted a little more blonde hair into her scalp. This time the colour & texture are loads closer to her original as it was from a clip of blonde hair purchased from a wig shop

So here she is.... again..... as fresh as she cld be from 1972..

Loving Denim

Hi everyone,
If you were to see one of my post awhile bk, I had mentioned that I wanted to take up the challenge against over-consumerism and trying to reduce my carbon footprint, thus the inspiration of the material usage in this set.

It's now close to winter, and what better way to warm up in denim. Denim, our staple throughout all seasons will now function as a tunic over a long sleeved tee to help keep the gals tidy as they finish their late autumn farm chores.

All tees will have a vinyl print of every girls' favorite animal : )

There are 4 variations of this dress set.

Materials used are up-cycled cotton and denim.

*pls take note of the little denim rip in set2, I kept it as part of the design for a more rugged look but do understand not everyone might like it.

I can't believe i started on the dresses' 1st prototype 6 months ago! The only thing positive about taking so much time is that I could revisit the embellishments used on the dresses a few times to be sure they've all co-ordinate well.

Proj2: Pinky lurve

Every notice how we out grow our jewellery and accesories? Instead of throwing them away, why not give them a little TLC face-lift ?

I had this string of Tourmaline for the longest time purchased with the believe of it’s healing properties. I had almost forgotten I had it till I gave my little jewellery box a spring cleaning.
It's now been given a little up-cycling as it’s previously strung style is a little too passe for me and I can’t bear to dispose it. Now, I can’t wait to wear it with my little Garnet bracelet which is in need of a hook change for a multi-layer bohemian look :D

I’ve had an ammmmazing day today! I’ve finally continued my custom on a Blythe clone I had recieved almost a year ago. The motivation? My motivation to beat consumerism lol! I’ve been feeling too disgusted with myself over-purchasing stuff for the sake of ownership and then chucking them aside.

The work I’ve done on her are, enlarging of eye sockets, craving super poooofffyy-puffy-botox lips for her and giving her a new face lift. If only I could perform such plastic surgery on myself as easily!

It’s also my 1st time using the new air-brush my husband and I purchased together to pursue our hobby in model building and Blythe.   Yeah : ( Consumerism 1 Frigginfuchsia 1, we’re on a tie now till this project is completed.

For over 2 years, I’ve never stopped flipping through my favorite Japanese interior and craft books. Inspired by them, I decided to give my tiny apartment a facelift before I over-flipped the pages to death. But alas, I was faced with an amount of items that made this task impossible. You have noticed why every interior-styled pix look great in books is actually due to a lack of clutter yar? From the above attempt of decluttering, I’ve come to realise I was part of negative consumerism. I’ve toooooo much of everything. 3 huge boxes of fabric (I’ve no idea what possessed me), 5 tool boxes of craft tools, 3 boxes of doll customising items (and approx 35 and above blythes) .... just to give you an idea.

It hit me that I had to do something about this. To help my already spent money and the ailing earth as well as to heal my guilt on consumerism.  A friend suggested that I should take part in http://www.theuniformproject.com/ It was a pretty great idea given that I’d have one less clothe to wash, but given the humidity of our climate, I think I’d proberly end up air-polluting tiny Singapore.

My problem. OVER consumerism ( I do not see this as contributing to the economy as much as am OVER-using the earth’s resources)
My solution. Re-use, Reduce, Recycle & UP-cycle.

With the above thoughts, I’ve came to realise that I finally have an aim and topic to blog (after 4 years). Yes it'll still have dolly content!!!!!

I’ll be taking up a challenge inspired by OVER consumerism to by contributing ideas to this blog with solutions created from material/items already purchased over the years to help this little ailing planet we all live in. 

I am not perfect but I will try to do my little bit each little day.  

My first little project was to replace my 2 year old wristlet.

Below are pixs of my solution created from diving into my at least 10kg of fabric. I found some lovely Polka-dot linen, brown zipper which I bought 4 years ago!!! and some remnant khaki fabric from a styling job.

Nursary Rhymes

This set is finally complete! I had been working on this set for a while but due to my work schedule, I've only just finished it and can't wait to share it with you

There are only 2 available variations. But as the coats are reversible, your gal's will be able to achieve an extra look. oh did I mention earlier? the coats have working pockets! The reverse side of each coat have adorable vintage animal motifs sewn on them. A simple linen-cotton dress is paired with each set.

Materials used are lovely Japanese flannel, cotton and crochet lace. Each coat also has a vintage style plastic flower button to make the set cuter than it already is.

Yes.. it's another one of them factory girls. I can't help myself, her yummy hair was calling out to me. I've regretted not getting a little ice-rune a few months back and when I saw Leslie's auction photos, i just knew she had to come home with me.

Her scalp is of an Ice-rune's, nicely thatched unlike Mochi's (the pink fbl factory girl) but with out bangs, am contemplating if i'll be giving her bangs.

Her face-plate is of a blushless Mango's and I think I'll be touching up her make up quite a bit.

Lesile came with another girl....do check back for her introduction...hopefully soon.

Factory blythes... prototype blythes has been the buzz these last 2 months in our little Blythe world. I had to be part of it and got A.Strange.R to join my little dolly family.

When I first saw her picture I thought she looked wierd and was pleasently surprised that she turned out to be a FBL but with translucent 'skin'.

For the sake of understanding her better, I HAD to take her apart...very gently of course. I was shocked to see the state of her rooting... but also amused because woaaaaahhhhh.... now I know how prototypes are created. Yes... I pretty much believe she is a prototype rather than a mix and match of remenant parts. Why? Well, I think the pictures will pretty much speak for themselves. Do take close looks at the markings in her scalp and rooting method.

I've tried my very best NOT to custom her except for filling in gaps in her scalp, gave her a parting and bangs so that I can fall inlove with her. She's still a work in progress, only to set her hair and trim her bangs further.

I'll try to do a proper introduction of her as soon as she is complete.

Here's a solution to keep our guests better introduced to each other and while keeping all conversations sweet as they find their seats at the table.
Table markers created with little pieces of chocolates with flags made from wired ribbons and skewers and printed names on tracing stuck on.

In recent conversations with my better half, we began to realise that the little things we do together such as cooking have been taken for granted. It's come to our realisation that we are pretty much gratful we've both got similar taste in food and luv cooking together which is sometimes obscure in some relationships.
On more creative days we try to recreate recipes from our childhood as well as concoct new ones... here's one of our ways of storing the recipes besides in our iphones. We personalise our own reciepe cards by printing our own designs on recycled xmas presents' packaging and the backs of xmas cards.

Hoarder!

Am a hoarder and I admit it.
I loveeeeeee keeping paper scraps, have dozens of loose widowed buttons and as part of my job now, have loads of scrap fabric. Add the above to my goal for 2010 to recycle and buy less newly produced resources and here is something I came up with for one of my latest styling job.

Yes, they're home-made napkins with home-made napkin rings.

Home should never make us feel caged in.
Home should always be a freedom of space no matter how big or small it is.

Curtains created from a single panel of Ikea's Wilman Curtain that was cut into 2, followed by little applique birds stitched onto them. 5 birds were then stitched onto the base panel followed by 2 birds on the other panel to give an effect of depth and lightness of flight when the light shines through.
Total cost for this little project is approx. $6-7usd.

Hi there, I've yet to officially wish those of you who are reading (if anyone at all) a Happy 2010 but I've figure better now then never. I've just given this little quiet blog a tiny face-lift and will begin the posts rolling by doing a little posts on some of my fav buys from my recent trip from China; Beijing & Harbin.

Fav buy number 1 will have to be these 2 sets of Matryoshkas. Am not too sure if anyone has noticed but I am starting to believe Matryoshkas have a special sorta attraction that's gotten us all to fall in love with them. Excuse me if am wrong but are there any doll collectors out there that does not love the Matryoshkas? I keep asking myself why I like'em but am never able to find a reason except I just do! How abt u?

It's been a while since a set of photos have caught my eye for it's flawless styling, where by the details are so well thought of, where every stray hair is perfectly styled.

Most importantly, it's a set of photos whereby a day of normality is made all cheerful, because the little buntings, rattan wreaths and cushions made a simple photo so special.

The cherry to top things off? An adorable arrangement of almost impossible to make clothes for petite blythes all having tiny matching knit wear!!! I remember the time I pricked every inch of my index finger and risking being crossed eye just to sew a simple dress for my petite...

Polyester lace has never been on my list of fav. embellishment to use until recently. Tiny crochet lace has always been my top choice, however, a subtle delicate lilac lace called out to me from my knotted pile of lace and was the perfect fit for my upcoming collection.

Well... do look out for this up-coming collection.. it'll be targeting the animal loving side of us. Think kittens, birds and oooohhhh fluffy sheeeeeeppppp...

This is proberly the last batch of dresses I can whip up with my precious stash of hand painted used Yukata kimono material. Just like the last few dresses I sewed with used kimono fabric, there are slight tiny aging spots on Dress 1, very tiny ones.

Dress 3's fabric has a slight worn appearance, as shown in the pix below.

Fabrics have been pre-washed.

The only Dress 2 is created with new Japanese material.

All have 2 little felt butterflies on them for a little touch of summer cheer.

Each summer dress will come with a white vintage lace petticoat.

Finally!!!! they're completed.
Presenting my latest 60s inspired dress sets.
These will be sold as a set; a base dress & an outer tunic piece that can be worn on it's own too.

The inspiration was of the working ladies in the early 60s having a tunic to protect their pretty dresses from getting soiled, but I see it as another gorgeous way to do layering.

Each of the tunic as a little retro yellow button on it as a detail.
Each set was created with lovely cotton & crochet lace.

On my way home

I believe it's being away from mostly grey Beijing that my colour palette is slowly switching back to variants of bright spring loveliness complete with flowers. Am now in the midst of relocating back to Singapore and though it's been raining almost everyday... it's almost daily that I manage to catch a rainbow a pretty good change for me though I do miss the weather in Beijing.

This sewing project has been one of my most challenging to date...fingers crossed that I'll complete it soon.

A simple personal interpretation of what Alice in my little world will look like and be dressed in.
They are all made from baby pink and blue cotton fabric that are lovely to the touch and old-style ruffled lace for the collar, topped of with a little black ribbon.

Japan Kitsch

These new dresses are made from Yukatas that were previously owned.
They all hold beautiful memories of their last owners and were altered to be passed down to someone else important in the family leaving behind scraps which I found in the Kimono shop several years ago.
Now, these memories will also be shared with out little girls in a little Vintage Japanese Kitsch Style.
